  • General Questions

    Discovery Passes are free admission tickets to local cultural institutions available to adult Clark County Public Library cardholders. They are offered in a convenient digital-only format.

    No. Once a reservation is booked, it cannot be canceled or changed. We recommend calling or checking the institution’s website before making any reservation due to any building closures or special events that may affect general admission tickets.

    After booking, you’ll receive an email with your pass. After booking, you’ll receive an email with your pass. The email will be sent to the address we have on file from your library card registration. If you need to update your email address, you can do so online at ccplohio.org by logging into your account or by calling us at (937) 328-6903.

    Adult patrons may reserve Discovery Passes within the following limits:

    • Per day: Up to 2 different passes, but not more than 1 per institution (e.g., you cannot reserve two Boonshoft passes on the same day).

    • Per week: Up to 2 passes total.

    • Per month: Up to 4 passes total.

    • Per institution: Up to 4 passes per year for each location (Boonshoft, Carillon, Dayton Art Institute, and Young’s Jersey Dairy).

    • Per year (combined): A maximum of 16 passes total per calendar year.

    Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance, and they will count toward your daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly limits once booked.

    If you see an error while trying to reserve a Discovery Pass, it may be due to one of the following:

    • Adult card requirement: Only adult library cards can be used to book a Discovery Pass.

    • Library Card Account issues: Check if any blocks on your account need to be cleared. Give us a call at 937-328-6903.

    • Booking limits: You may have already reached your reservation limit. Each patron may reserve up to:

      • 2 passes per day

      • 2 passes per week

      • 4 passes per month

      • 16 passes per calendar year

      • Per location limits also apply: 1 per day, 2 per week, 4 per month, 4 per calendar year.

    If you’re not sure whether you’ve reached your limit, we can check your account for you.

    We email your pass to the email address on file with your library card registration. Please:

    • Look for an email from LibCal (our Discovery Pass booking system) on the date you reserved your pass.

    • Check your junk/spam or promotions folder.

    • If your email has changed, update it at ccplohio.org or call us at (937) 328-6903, and we’ll help.

    Yes. The pass is valid only when used by an adult library cardholder.

    Passes cannot be extended or rescheduled for inclement weather or building closures.

    No. Passes are fully digital and do not need to be returned.

    The pass is valid only for the patron who booked it and their family. The patron must show a photo ID (driver’s license or state ID) along with the pass at the venue.

  • Boonshoft Museum of Discovery

    The pass admits two (2) adults and up to seven (7) children for free.

    • Access to all exhibits (Discovery Zoo, Science Central, Hall of the Universe, Mead Tree House, Tidal Pool, Explorers Crossing, the Bieser Discovery Center, Do Lab, and more) featuring interactive hands-on science and natural history displays.
    • Planetarium and Science Theater programs
    • Daily public activities such as demonstrations, animal encounters, and educational presentations

    Yes. SunWatch is only open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am–4:00 pm.

    Adult patrons can check out a Boonshoft/SunWatch pass up to 4 times per calendar year on one library card.

  • Carillon Historical Park

    The pass admits two (2) adults and any children age 17 and under.

    • Admission to the 65-acre open-air history museum
    • Hands-on experiences and interpretive programming around the site
    • Heritage Center exhibits
    • Archeology Adventure Zone and Moraine walking Trails (best-kept secret of the park!)

    There will be an additional cost to ride the Carillon Train. Check current pricing here.

    Adult patrons can check out a Carillon pass up to 4 times per calendar year on one library card.

    Yes. You must show a valid photo ID when presenting the pass at the Park.

  • Dayton Art Institute

    The pass admits two (2) adults and up to four (4) children. (Children 6 and under are always free.)

    General admission includes all Special & Focus Exhibitions and the museum’s collection galleries.

    The pass covers general admission; ticketed programs or classes may require additional fees.

    Adult patrons can check out a Dayton Art Institute pass up to 4 times per calendar year on one library card.

  • Young's Jersey Dairy

    The pass admits two (2) adults and two (2) children and includes unlimited access to:

    • Miniature golf

    • Medium buckets at the driving range

    • Batting cages (tokens)

    • Cowvin’s Fast Slide rides

    • Moovers & Shakers rides

    • Cowvin’s Kiddie Corral

    • Wagon ride on the farm rides

    • Cowtherine’s Carousel rides

    • Cowvin’s Corny Maze + playground

    The pass covers admission and listed activities. Food, souvenirs, or other experiences may cost extra.

    No. The pass includes unlimited access to all the activities listed above during your visit.

    Adult patrons can check out a Young’s pass up to 4 times per calendar year on one library card.
