As 2025 winds down to a close (I know, it may feel like it just started or seemed like it was never going to end), it’s fun to see what the patrons and users of the Clark County Public Library system enjoyed most over the past year on Kanopy, one of our streaming video platforms. Kanopy offers thousands of documentaries, television series, and films, from indies to blockbusters.
Clark County Public Library users love Kanopy’s selection of television series, and particularly those offered by BBC Studios. In fact, the top five television series streamed by our patrons this year are all from BBC Studios and its collection of comedy, cozy, and crime procedural series
Below, you can see what television series, Clark County Public Library users loved streaming this year:
“DI Richard Poole is sent to the paradise island of Saint Marie in the Caribbean to solve an impossible murder. He hates sun, sea and sand, but no matter - once he's solved the murder, he'll be heading back to wonderful, cold, drizzly London. He does so, with brilliance and tenacity - only to discover his boss back home has conspired to keep him there. He's trapped on an island he hates and people just keep getting murdered.”
All 14 series of Death in Paradise are here, opens a new window.
“Linda, a 50-year-old menopausal, working-class married mother of two, experiences an existential crisis and leaves her family to return to her rural roots in the wilderness of the Forest of Dean. Setting off on her Triumph motorbike that she hasn’t ridden in 30 years, she begins an adventure to reclaim her lost identity and seek out a tree she climbed as a child. Isolated from the outside world, she meets a community that is both unsettling and intoxicating, including a pair of infamous eel-farming sisters and a mysterious man who lives in the woods with wild boar.”
Both series of The Change can be found here, opens a new window.
“The picture postcard town of Blackwater might be a pastoral idyll for some – but it’s hell on earth for DI Fia Lucey. Facing disciplinary charges for assaulting a violent criminal, Fia has reluctantly returned home to a town she left many years before. She starts investigating the recent disappearance of hotelier Roisin Hurley, a case everyone else seems strangely reluctant to pursue. After Roisin’s body is pulled out of the lake, sordid secrets emerge. Who was Roisin protecting? Was she a victim of sexual abuse or a sinister collaborator? And could there be a connection between these shocking crimes and the traumatic events of Fia’s childhood?”
Blackshore can be found here.
“Crumbling country mansion Button House is home to restless spirits who've died there over the centuries. Each a product of their time, they're thrown together for eternity, resigned to squabble over mundane daily gripes. But their lives - or rather afterlives - are thrown into turmoil when young urban couple Alison and Mike unexpectedly inherit the peaceful derelict house and plan to turn it into a bustling hotel. As the ghosts attempt to oust the newcomers, and Alison and Mike discover the true scale of the project they've taken on, fate conspires to trap both sides in an impossible houseshare.”
All five series of Ghosts can be found here, opens a new window.
“A supernatural thriller set in a luxury apartment building which is haunted by the ghosts of its dark and violent past. Welcome to Bedlam Heights, a hip new high rise on the edge of a British metropolis. Behind the façade of stylish 21st century living lie unimaginable horrors, for this former pre-Victorian asylum is possessed by its previous inhabitants. Kate, who lives and works at Bedlam Heights, thinks anyone who believes in ghosts is a fool. But the surprise arrival of her troubled cousin Jed soon opens her eyes to the terrifying truth.”
Both series of Bedlam can be found here, opens a new window.
The Great Courses, opens a new window
More than just film and television series are available on Kanopy. The Great Courses, opens a new window, a perennial favorite of not just Clark County Public Library patrons, but of library users everywhere is available through Kanopy. Kanopy Kids, opens a new window
The biggest surprise was seeing what was most popular in Kanopy Kids.
Kanopy Kids, opens a new window is a curated streaming collection of video content for children, with a focus on children ages 2-8. Not only is the collection age-appropriate, but it also allows unlimited viewing, so you don’t have to worry about running out of any of your monthly Kanopy credits. Kanopy Kids offer series from PBS Kids!, opens a new window, such as Arthur, Caillou, Martha Speaks, Odd Squad, Reading Rainbow, and many, many others. In addition to PBS Kids! series, you’ll find storybook read-alongs, STEAM learning series, kid-friendly films, plus beloved characters such as Blippi, The Wiggles, and so much more.
When I say that the biggest surprise was seeing what was most popular on Kanopy Kids this year, it also turned out to be the most popular series/title overall with the Kanopy users of Clark County Public Library: Masha and the Bear!

"A retired circus bear settles into the woods and prepares for a quiet new life surrounded by peace and tranquility until he is introduced to an adventurous little girl named Masha."
Not only was Masha and the Bear popular, but so was a special all-musical season of Masha and the Bear called Masha's Songs, opens a new window, which was in the top ten most streamed titles of 2025 among Clark County Public Library users.
If you’d like to access and explore Kanopy Kids, you can access it by clicking Kids in the top-right corner of the homepage while browsing.
