Summer Challenge for Kids, Teens and Adults Runs June 1st – July 31st

Color Your World with our 2025 Summer Challenge

2025 All Ages Summer Challenge - Color Our World

Kids and Teens

OR staff can register you.   Library staff can also register you as an off-line reader IF you are CERTAIN, you will never log in yourself.

  • You do not need to enter your library card to register, but we do prefer that you use one when setting up your account.
  • Parents can register their children by creating a family account and listing each child individually.
  • When registering, you must select the branch that you typically attend, however you may pick up your prizes at any of our branches/Bookmobile.
  • You will be able to register for a Summer Challenge based on your age.  We have three ages groups:
    • Birth-4
    • 5-12
    • Teens 13-18* still in high school
  • You will have 25 activities they can complete (e.g. read a library book, check out a book, attend a library program, visit a park, visit a museum in person or virtually, play a game) for the challenge. You can click on each as you complete them. This will earn you a badge.

How Does it Work?

  • Once you have clicked on 5 badges that you have completed/earned, you'll have another badge, the Completed 5 Activities badge to click on which also gives you a certificate to print.  You can then go to one of our branches or Bookmobile and tell the staff member who will then go into your account and redeem your first prize, which will be a book* of your choice to choose from a selection.
  • Once you have clicked on 15 badges that you have completed/earned, you'll have another badge, the Completed 15 Activities badge to click on which also gives you a certificate to print.  You can then go to one of our branches or Bookmobile (can be the same as before or different) and tell the staff member who will then go into your account and redeem your second prize, which will be a book* of your choice to choose from a selection.
  • Once you have completed all 25 activities/earned 25 activity badges, you can go to one of our branches (again, can be any or Bookmobile) to get a little art easel set or library swag*. The first 50 at each branch to complete their challenge will also get a coupon for the Ohio State Fair.  Those who complete all of the activities will be entered to win the grand prize in their age group.

    Grand Prizes:

  • Birth-4: 2 Adults, 4 kids to Columbus Zoo
  • 5-12: 2 Adults, 4 kids to CoSi
  • Teens: 5 tickets to Activate Columbus

2025 Summer Challenge Programs and Activities

Adults

Adults ages 18 and up are invited to participate in the program.

Patrons may create an account on Beanstack https://ccplohio.beanstack.org/reader365 and register for either the Adult Summer Challenge, which has a mixture of reading, exploring library resources, attending programs, and having fun, OR the Avid Summer Reading Challenge which only focuses on reading.

An Offline Reader account can be created by staff if a patron cannot access Beanstack but still wants to participate. If an Offline Reader account is created, that patron must come in or call to report completed activities. A list of activities will be provided. After completing 5 activities and 15 activities in one Challenge, patrons may go to any branch to pick up a free book* for both milestones. A maximum of two books may be won even if both Challenges are completed.

After completing 25 activities in one Challenge, patrons may receive library swag* and are automatically entered for the Grand Prize - a basket with a Fire Kindle, coloring books + art supplies, teas, and donations/discounts from local organizations. There will be three winners.

If both Challenges are completed, patrons will have two submissions for the Grand Prize but can only win once. Only one library swag can be chosen even if both Challenges are completed. Final entries must be submitted by July 31. Grand Prize winners will be contacted in early August and will have 10 days from notification to collect their prize. Prizes not picked up will be awarded to the runner up.

Library employees and their immediate families/members of their household can participate in Challenges however they are not eligible to win books, swag, or the grand prize.
