Library of Things FAQs

  • General Questions

Library of Things items are only available for pick-up at the Main Library.
If you receive a message like the one shown above, it means your pick-up location needs to be updated. To fix this:

    1. Look for the “Pick up at” drop-down menu beneath the item title (see image below).

    2. Select MAIN from the list of locations.

    3. Click the “Place hold” button to complete your request.

It is a collection of hands-on items like tools, recreational equipment, and medical or accessibility devices that you can check out. It's a great way to try new things, save money, and access equipment you might only need occasionally.

  • Borrowing

The cardholder is responsible for the full replacement cost if an item is lost or damaged. By borrowing an item, patrons agree to take full responsibility for its care and acknowledge that they are liable for any repair or replacement costs incurred while the item is checked out to them.

An exception applies to incomplete kits, where patrons may be charged only for the missing or damaged components.

To borrow an item, bring a valid adult Clark County Public Library card and the selected dummy case to the Reference Desk to exchange it for the actual item.

Cards issued to patrons under 18 are not eligible for Library of Things checkouts.

Items must be returned in person to a staff member at the Main Library, either at the Return Desk or the Reference Desk. Do not place items in the book drop or leave them outside the library—doing so may result in a fee being added to your account.

Items in the Library of Things collection are non-renewable.

Patrons with an adult library card can borrow up to 2 "things" at one time.

All items check out for 2 weeks unless otherwise noted.
