Patrons are required to present their physical library card or driver’s license/photo ID to checkout from all CCPL locations.

Patrons may check out materials being held for another patron by presenting that patrons library card. If they do not have the library card, they may check out the materials on their own account by using their own library card/photo ID.

Parents or legal guardians may check out materials on their child’s card if the card is not presented as long as they are the signatory and have photo ID. If the signatory is another person, the parent will have to use their own account by using their own library card/photo ID.

You can check your account information by clicking My Profile under Log In on our homepage. Follow the prompts on screen. You will need your library card number and PIN/password. From there, you can see if your contact information is correct, what you have out, renew items and look at your reading history, etc. If you need assistance with your account, please contact the Circulation Department at (937) 328-6901.

The computer will keep a list of titles checked out over a period of three year’s time, not exceeding 1000 titles. If you wish to keep a reading history, you can note that on your library card application. You can also change this option later while logged into your account.

Note: Reading histories may be subpoenaed by law enforcement.

Yes, items are shipped back and forth between branches. You can have an item sent to your branch by placing the item on reserve. You will be alerted via your preferred notification method when your reserve has arrived.

Now patrons may also choose to receive check-out, renewal and fine payment confirmation electronically through email and text. eReceipts may be sent in lieu of a paper receipt or as an additional confirmation of your check-out and payment activity.

Patrons receiving eReceipts in text format should expect one text message for each individual item checked-out.

NOTE: Unlike basic notification options, patrons may receive eReceipts in both formats simultaneously, should they so choose. The library issues paper receipts for all money transactions.

As of Monday, April 8th, 2019, all Clark County Public Library locations will go fine free (with the exception of interlibrary loan items).

The library will no longer be charging patrons late fees for items returned past their due date. Replacement charges will still be billed when an item is 28 days overdue. Items will go into long overdue status when they are 7 days overdue. Patrons will be blocked if they have 1 long overdue item or 25 overdue items. This means that you will not be able to place holds, checkout materials, etc…

You will be notified of your holds, due dates, and overdue items by one of the three following notification methods of your choosing:

    • BY PHONE: you will receive automated messages on your home or mobile phone.
    • BY EMAIL: you will receive automated emails at an address of your choosing.
    • BY TEXT: you will receive one text for each individual item held on/checked out to your account.

FIRST NOTE: Your carrier’s text messaging rates will apply.

SECOND NOTE: You may receive text notifications in addition to Phone notifications or Email notifications. However, should you choose not to receive text notification, only one notification option can be used.

  • Requesting

ONLINE: In the Catalog, click “PLACE HOLD” for each item you want to reserve.
CALL: (937) 328-6903 or any branch.
EMAIL: askref@ccpl.lib.oh.us (Emails will be answered within 72 hours or less, not including weekends and holidays.)

The table below lists the maximum number of items on which a patron can place a reserve request for each material type:

    Material Type Reserve Limit*
    Books 50
    Books on CD 25
    Vox Books 5
    Music CDs 25
    Board Games 2
    Magazines 15
    DVDs 15
    DVD Binge Box 15
    Blu-rays 15
    Video Games 3
    Book Club Kits 1
    Mobile Hotspots 1
    Ghost Hunting Kits 1
    Discovery Passes 2

    * Patrons may reserve 50 total items regardless of format. Reserves are held for five days only.
**SearchOhio items will remain on hold for 10 days

That depends on the current status of the item:

    • Checked-Out Items – Reserves are fulfilled according to the order of requests; every patron is entitled to a full loan period with an item but may not renew items carrying active reserves.
    • All Other Items – Reserve reports are run periodically throughout the day, and travel between branches requires time. Wait for a confirmation notice before attempting to pick up a reserve.

SearchOhio is a consortium of public libraries in the state of Ohio that provides borrowing access to millions of library materials. OhioLINK, opens a new window allows you to request materials from Ohio’s college and university libraries. Patrons can request an item from either consortium and pick it up at your local library location.

SearchOhio and OhioLINK items may have different loan periods, renewal limits, daily fine rates and replacement costs compared to other items checked out from the Clark County Public Library.

Patrons may also request specific titles be added to the collection. Requests are subject to the library’s purchasing guidelines.

You can cancel your reserve by accessing your account online or by calling the Circulation Department at (937) 328-6901.

    1. Log in to your account.
    2. Enter some keywords and run your search.
    3. Find the title you want.
    4. Titles with at least one copy in the library show Available in green. To see the current statues of all copies of the item, select the availability details link.
    5. Select the Place a Hold button.
    6. Select the Confirm hold button.

You will receive a notice from the Library when your hold is ready for you to pick up.

  • Renewing

Yes, items that aren’t on reserve for other patrons may be renewed three times. You can renew them three different ways:

    • ONLINE: www.ccplohio.org (Log in to your account and renew from the “ITEMS OUT” page).
    • CALL: (937) 328-6901 during business hours or any branch (see back page), or the 24/7 Info. Line at 322-INFO.
    • EMAIL: library@ccpl.lib.oh.us - Emails will be answered within 72 hours or less, not including weekends and holidays.

NOTE: Checked-out items have a limit of three renewals. Items either reserved by other patrons or exceeding the allowed renewal limit cannot be renewed. Items will also not be renewed if your account activity has been blocked or the item is an eItem (eBook, eAudio, etc…).

For any account questions call (937) 328-6901.

The library will automatically renew your eligible items 2 days before they are due. Patrons will be notified if their notification is set to email or text. You will not be notified if notification is set to phone.

  • Returning

Yes, you can return most Clark County Public Library materials to any branch location, which you can find listed on our Hours & Location page. However, art prints and Library of Things items must be returned directly to the Main Library.

You will need to pay for the cost of the items or check with the department supervisor for other options (if available).

If you've returned an item and it is still showing on your account, please contact the location to which you returned the item and we will look for it.

  • Borrowing History

Log in with your library card barcode number or BiblioCommons username and password. Then select My Setting from the menu. Under Account Preferences: Borrowing History, select Change. Enable your borrowing history and select Save Changes.

You can sort the borrowing history by returned date, title, author or format, but only if you have 100 titles or fewer. When the borrowing history has more than 100 items, sorting is then removed, because BiblioCommons doesn’t store the information and the page load time will be unacceptably slow to retrieve and sort that information.

For patrons with a borrowing history of over 100 titles, we suggest adding your borrowing history titles to your Completed Shelf. On your borrow history page, check the "Select 50 items" box and then select "Manage items .." at the bottom. Select "Completed" from the menu. Repeat steps for each borrowing history page. Also, if you add any type of content to an title - for example, a rating, a comment or a tag - the catalog automatically adds that title (physical or digital) to your Completed shelf. The Completed Shelf then can be sorted by Title, Rating, Author or Date Added.

  • Hotspots (Mobile WiFi)

A Wi-Fi hotspot gives you portable wireless internet access. Just turn it on and you're ready to connect up to 10 devices to one hotspot. You can use tablets, laptops, or smartphones to do research online, download movies, and more. Signal strength may vary by location. These kits do require an electrical connection in order to charge the device. Note: Please return the hotspot with a fully charged battery.

Yes, hotspots are available at all Clark County Public Library locations. To view hotspot availability or reserve a hotspot, visit http://www.ccplohio.org.

The borrower will be held responsible for all applicable replacement costs for the hotspot and/or accessories if lost, stolen or damaged while checked out to borrower's library card.

Anyone who has a CCPL library card can borrow a Wi-Fi hotspot at no charge. Wi-Fi hotspots are displayed in the library catalog and my be requested by placing a hold or contacting library staff for assistance. You can check out 1 Wi-Fi hotspot for 1 week.

Wi-Fi hotspots may not be renewed.

You may return a Wi-Fi hotspot at any CCPL location in the book drop. Staff will check the contents to verify that all parts are present and in good repair before clearing from your account. Note: Please return with a fully charged battery.

If a Wi-Fi hotspot is 1 day late, the service will be suspended, and the hotspot will no longer operate properly. If the hotspot (or any of its parts) is missing or damaged, your account will be billed for the full cost of the missing or damaged pieces.

If you need help using a Wi-Fi hotspot, contact the library location where the hotspot was checked out from during regular library hours.
